The objectives of the University of the South College Republican Club are:
- To encourage Sewanee students to participate in politics through working for the election of Republican candidates in local, state, national and other elections.
- To make the campus and the students of Sewanee aware of the principles and ideals that the Republican Party stands for, and to organize any programs and activities necessary of this goal.
- To encourage and develop Sewanee students to be effective leaders in the Republican Party and the Conservative movement.
- To represent the views of students to the Republican Party and Republican office holders in the state of Tennessee and Congress

I would like to address the group to formally invite them to become directly involved with the republican candidacy of Zach Wamp for Tennessee’s highest office, Governor.
Looking forward to meeting with your fine organization I remain,

The current racist, hate-filled web site “Sewanee Chautauquans” shares a nearly identical web address as this Republican site . . . is created on the same blog site . . . looks similar in design . . . some of the officers of the CR were “friends” of the Chautauquan facebook page before public opinion scared them off of it . . . the right-wing (including the mental midget, Sarah Palin) movement is afraid of blacks in power, as are those answering the Obama poll on this page, as are those on the Chautauquan blog. Too many coincidences. When will the College Republicans stand up to denounce hate? Oh wait . . .
Tired of hate,
I’m not sure how to begin to respond to your meritless allegations. WordPress is an popular free blogging website that allows anyone to register and create a webpage within minutes. We set up ours at the beginning of last semester on October 21st as a means of publicizing our events and debating politics. Just because some individuals decided to create a hate blog using the same service we did proves no correlation between the two groups. College Republicans are not affiliated with the Chautauquan blog.
Yes, one or more officers may have been friends of the said Facebook page, like many other students on campus who blindly accepted the friend request when we saw “Sewanee.” When we, like everyone else on campus, found out what the page was really about, we defriended the page.
Tired of hate…DJS, have you ever been a College Republican meeting or an event? Probably not, since you are so far removed from campus blogging from South Carolina.
